GALA HISTORY – CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF COMMUNITY
The very first dinner and dance organized by the newly formed Kelowna Canadian Club in 1966 was held at the Capri Hotel. At the time, the hotel was owned by Cap Capozzi – a proud supporter of the Italian community. Capozzi’s ties ran deep; he was also part owner of Calona Wines (now Sandhill), where many of our founding members worked.
KCIC has a long history of hosting Gala events for major anniversaries, including the 25th, 40th, and 50th celebrations. Past Galas have included Italian chefs working with Okanagan College culinary students and featured Italian wine, food, fashion, and cars.
KCIC is one of Kelowna's oldest social clubs, and 60 years is a remarkable achievement. The club continues to thrive, offering cultural events that enrich the community. With approximately 9,000 people in the Central Okanagan identifying as Italian, KCIC represents a vibrant and significant cultural presence.
We look forward to celebrating our 60th Anniversary Dinner & Dance Gala, together with you.
Allora, Andiamo! Let's go! Come celebrate 60 years of heritage, community and joy with the KCIC.
