The Kelowna Canadian Italian Club is beyond excited to be able to make a donation of $4,500.00 to the KGH Foundation for the Pediatric Ward.
A huge Mille Grazie goes out to our community for supporting this fundraising effort. Thank you to the KCIC Board, the incredible volunteers and those who purchased sauce and made this donation possible. KCIC Fundraiser for the Children of Kelowna At the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club, we know that nothing says love like Nonna’s pasta sauce. For generations, our Nonnas have been serving up bowls of comfort, each spoonful infused with care, tradition, and that special ingredient only grandmothers have—pure love. This year, we want to turn that love into something even bigger: hope and help for Kelowna’s children. We’re planning a community fundraiser where we take our favourite, time-honoured KCIC pasta sauce recipe and share it with the public—not just to fill plates, but to fill hearts. A dedicated team of KCIC volunteers will lovingly prepare batches of this sauce, following the traditions that make them special. The fresh sauce will be cooked, frozen, packaged and sold out of the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club Clubhouse located at 770 Lawrence Avenue. This donation is going to enhance the overall environment and experience for children and families within the pediatric unit. By providing updated entertainment options, calming resources and improved family-use items, the initiative supports patient comfort, emotional well-being and quality of care. The addition of new interactive games offers positive distraction, helping reduce stress and anxiety during hospital stays. Sound machines contribute to a more restful environment, supporting better sleep and recovery. Together these enhancements help create a more supportive family centered care environment, leading to improved satisfaction, reduced stress and a more positive hospital experience for all involved. Some of the items they will purchase are LED notebooks, sound machines, radios, games, presents for the family Christmas tree and a panini press for the family kitchen. Just as Nonnas take joy in feeding their grandchildren, we believe our community has a shared responsibility to care for our youngest members. Every container of sauce sold represents not only a delicious meal but also a gesture of compassion for the children and families who need it most. Because at KCIC, we believe that when love is the main ingredient, everyone gets nourished!
