Have questions about buying or renting our video?
We have some answers!
We use the Vimeo platform for video rentals and purchases. This platform offers a quality viewing experience of our content and makes our video available worldwide. Here are a few FAQ should you need any assistance with your rental.
Do I need to sign up for a Vimeo account?
You should be able to watch a video without setting up an account, but it will be easier with a free Vimeo account, especially if you want to watch on your phone or tablet. Then you can download the Vimeo app.
Can I give a rental or purchase as a gift?
Absolutely. When you go to the check-out page, you’ll see an option for “Gift this.” If you select that, you can enter the email of the person you want to give it to and include a short message. You can even select a delivery date if you don’t want to send it right away.
What if I rent the video and decide I’d like to purchase it afterwards?
Just email us at [email protected] and let us know. We’ll issue you a coupon for the value of your rental ($4.99 CDN) off your purchase of the video, bringing if from $14.99 to $10.00. Then the video is yours forever!
What can I watch my video on?
The Vimeo app allows you to watch on your Android or iOS (Apple) phone, tablet or right on your computer. You can also “cast” the video to a Smart TV through Apple Airplay, Chromecast or Roku. Vimeo has recently ended support for their TV apps, but you can find out more about how to watch the video on a Smart TV here.
Can I watch on Amazon Fire TV or device?
In our testing, Amazon Fire devices were the ones that were a little less straightforward to allow playing on a SmartTV or device. You can cast through a third-party app like AirScreen.
Is the video available outside of Canada?
The video is available for purchase or rental worldwide. Prices will automatically be converted to the local currency for each region.
What if I rent or purchase and I can’t get it to work on my TV?
Again, let us know by emailing us at [email protected]. We can arrange a workaround by providing a temporary private link to YouTube.
Where does the money from my rental or purchase go?
All work done on our videos is done by volunteers, but we do have production costs for things like equipment rentals, subscriptions to music and stock video libraries, editing software, the purchase of archival images and other expenses. All proceeds from any screenings, rentals or purchases goes towards these costs so we can continue to produce future videos highlighting the Italian stories of the Okanagan. You can learn more about the Legacy video project on the project page.
Do you offer a physical copy on BluRay?
We will consider offering an option to buy on BluRay if there is enough demand for it. If that is an option you’d prefer, let us know by emailing us at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you to let you know what the options are.
