DAVID HAWKINS - MC
David is a retired family physician who has worked in the Central Okanagan for the past 30 years.

He is currently the vice president and past president of KCIC.

David developed an interest in stories of World War 2 through hearing the accounts of his father’s childhood. His father lived on the south coast of England and as a child saw firsthand the Battle of Britain with airplane dogfights overhead, bombs exploding in his town and airplanes crashing on the street where he lived.

OUR FAMILY'S SURVIVAL - REMEMBERING VILLAGE LIFE IN ITALY DURING WORLD WAR II

​It was a time that was unforgettable - a time that tore through peaceful villages across Italy. World War II left deep wounds in the memories of many. In this special PIAZZA panel format presentation, MC David Hawkins shares an intimate look at the experiences that our members cannot forget.

Several club members talk about their memories of village life in Italy during World War Two. The onset of war changed their daily lives and routines, but their families were resilient, and they adapted to survive.
This will be a group talk recounting their experiences and how their parents protected them from the many enemies they faced.
