It was in 1883 that the first Italian to stay in the Okanagan came. Soon, Giovanni Casorso would bring his wife Rosa and his oldest three children. Many more would follow, at the invitation of fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, friends and cousins. These would create the foundation of the Kelowna we now know, both literally (many would work in construction) and figuratively.
