A message from Cinzia Zotta-Wendland, Vice President and Co-Chair, Festa della Repubblica.
So much hard work went into Festa della Repubblica and I could not have been more proud of everyone’s collective efforts. As the Chair of this event I could not have done it without the volunteers of the KCIC. A big THANK YOU to my co-chair Maria Monna and a BIG shout out to the City of Kelowna and Lawrence residents who worked with us to close the street. Thank you to CHBC - Global Okanagan for taking the time to stop by bringing some attention to our event. We were also very humbled and appreciative for having Mayor Tom Dyas join us and officially declaring June Italian Heritage Month! To the community of Kelowna, we were honoured that you supported and shared this important event with us. Grazie Mille!

Every year on the 2nd of June, a wave of green, white, and red sweeps across Italy as the country bursts into vibrant celebrations for the Festa della Repubblica, or Republic Day. This national holiday commemorates one of the most significant moments in Italy’s history, marking the day in 1946 when Italians voted to end the monarchy and establish a republic. This day helps serve as a reminder of Italy’s journey from a time of dictatorship and war to a time of democracy and freedom.
Lawrence Avenue was alive with Italian culture, music, food and entertainment. Over 350 guests enjoyed an afternoon together celebrating the culture and history of Italy and the Italian Club of Kelowna.
