FROM OUR PRESIDENT
ROSANN NANCI

How many people out there have already planted their tomato seeds?
Come on be honest!
It’s spring! E la primavera! The new beginning!
After a long, cold winter we are slowly starting to feel more mobile, and as the days grow longer, we can go for our walks, start planning our gardens, and make plans for what we are going to do in our yards, maybe even plan the summer vacation! Whew! We made it through another cold and miserable winter.
We had some great events over the past few months with our infamous Trattoria Dinners in February and March; our La Nostra Famiglia Italiana sessions; La Bella Tavola cooking classes; Giuseppe’s Café; and our new monthly Family Game Night and New Member’s Welcome. It was a pleasure to meet so many new members and play Scopa with our older members. So much fun for all ages!
Spring is all about new beginnings and transformations – think of it as a season that symbolizes starting fresh. It’s the ultimate do-over. All the things you didn’t do last year, you get a chance to do this year.
Gratitude also springs to mind. We thank all the people in the last year for their service, their friendship and company. Now we look forward to seeing everyone again as the days are longer and warmer. We can get out and about without keeping the car running for fear the battery will die.
I love being in Kelowna in the springtime. The trees are all budding and soon will bloom, you see birds chirping and nesting, Easter is coming – can’t wait for the chocolate! And the air is crisp and clean – BUT NOT COLD! Aaah… Love it.
The KCIC is also all about new beginnings as we usher in another season of excellent events. Please read through the newsletter and check out all the exciting things we have going on. I’m sure there is something on our schedule that will spark your interest. We encourage you to join us in an event or two.
I’d especially like to invite all our members to attend the KCIC 57th Anniversary Dinner and Dance on April 22, 2023. It will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Hall on Barlee Road. A very special evening for all our members. Important ticket information is included in this bulletin so please be sure to get your tickets soon. Our last two dinners SOLD OUT quickly. I hope to see you all there!
And finally, I would like to wish you all a Buona Pasqua. The most holy week of the Catholic calendar is a time of celebrating new beginnings! I hope that you enjoy the Easter season surrounded by family and friends…oh and a lot of chocolate.
Buona Pasqua a Tutti!
