Gabriella Colussi Arthur is Professor Emerita and Senior Scholar from the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, York University. Her main areas of expertise include teaching Italian language and culture from elementary to advanced levels, Italian language pedagogy, Italian-English translation, and Italian-Canadian Studies.​

For Gabriella Colussi Arthur, there was always a puzzling question in her family tree - what happened to her great grandfather 130 years ago in Argentina?
For the past several years, Gabriella has been unravelling the mystery, piecing together evidence from Argentina and Friuli. Now, a new documentary from TLN/LULOFilms tells the story of that investigation. On this evening, Gabriella joins us for a special showing of the documentary and to tell about her personal journey:

"The TLN/LULOFILMS production of the documentary Chi ha ucciso il mio bisnonno, my project on my late great-grandfather Antonio Colussi, who, with his young wife, Anna Cecco, emigrated to Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina in 1887 and then was killed in 1893 at the age of 30 under mysterious circumstances.

The documentary traces the historical evidence that the production team, my research collaborator and dear friend, renowned Friulian migration expert, Javier Grossutti and I attempted to unearth in Argentina and in Friuli. It includes local interviews in Argentina and Friuli, with experts, archivists, and local staff."
