Explore your family tree with don rampone & Gord Hotchkiss
Join KCIC Historian and Family Tree Guy Don Rampone and Our Heritage Committee Co-Chair Gord Hotchkiss for a series of online workshops to help you create and grow your own family tree. These informal workshop sessions will all be focused on a topic, but they will be interactive and participatory. Attendees will be encouraged to share their own examples which will be used as educational opportunities. Workshops will be scheduled to be two hours in length, but the majority of the material will be shared in the first hour so the second hour can be optional.
While these sessions will look at the general tools for genealogy that are available, they will focus on concepts specific to Italians, including tools and resources that are focused on Italian records. Sessions will be recorded and will be made available to registrants for a 90 day period through a private resource page. We also include a number of other resources on this page. NEW FAMILY TREE WORKSHOP SERIES BEGINS THIS COMING JANUARY! |

Don Rampone | Your Workshop Leader
It's not surprising that Don Rampone is so passionate about helping others discover and grow their family trees - he's also our gardening expert. Growing and nurturing things comes naturally to him!
Don's great grandfather, Luigi Rampone, came to Kelowna in 1893 to help his friend Giovanni Casorzo (now known as Casorso) on his ranch in the Okanagan Mission. Don's own family tree include branches that bear the names of many of the early Italian families, including the Barreras, Lanfrancos and Casorsos.
Don has created extensive family tree histories for all the branches of his family. He's also the diligent author and researcher who creates our First Families features.

GORD HOTCHKISS | WORKSHOP ASSISTANT
Helping Don out on the technical end (running the Zoom meeting, etc) will be Gord Hotchkiss. Gord also will teach part of the Ancestry session and does the final presentation on Collaboration and Storytelling.
Gord ran his own creative agency for 35 years and has always been interested in both digital technology and history. He loves the art of storytelling and has been working on his own family tree (although not nearly as diligently as Don) for several years. Gord is also the producer and director of the Our Legacy | Il Nostro Lascito Video Project. |
