Meet our instructor - silvia
Silvia is a passionate Italian language instructor with a deep love for her native language and culture. Born and raised in Italy, Silvia brings an authentic and immersive experience to her teaching, helping students not just learn the language but truly connect with Italian culture. In 2013, Silvia made the exciting move from Italy to Canada, where she has since been dedicated to sharing her heritage with others.
With a Master’s Degree in Translation from the University of Genoa, Silvia has a strong academic foundation in languages. Her teaching style is friendly and engaging, focusing on real-world communication and cultural insights that make learning Italian both fun and practical. Her multilingual skills and firsthand experience as an immigrant enrich her teaching, offering students a unique perspective on language learning.
Silvia is committed to helping her students discover the joy of speaking Italian, whether they're beginners or looking to refine their skills.

OUR winter 2025 SESSION
winter registration will open late november
- We offer online and in-person classes.
- We offer all levels from Beginner to Advanced.
- Each session is (8) 1-hour classes.
- Seats are sold on first come first served basis.
- The classes are developed for adults. Sorry, we do not have children's classes at this time.
- Registration is NON-REFUNDABLE, however it is transferable.
- In-person classes are held at The Kelowna Canadian Italian Clubhouse - 770 Lawrence Avenue.
- Online sessions are on the Zoom platform.
- Classes are limited to 10 students per class. We require a minimum of 5 students in order to proceed with a class.
- There are no manuals or workbooks required to take the classes.

Title: Italian for Beginners: Your First Steps into Italian
Dates: Tuesday, September 17 - Tuesday, November 12 (no class on Tuesday, October 8)
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
This course is designed for absolute beginners. You’ll start by learning basic Italian greetings, essential vocabulary, and simple grammar structures. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, and engage in basic conversations about everyday topics such as ordering food, shopping, and traveling. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation and listening skills to build a strong foundation in the language.
CLASS 2 - Elementary Italian (A2) ONLINE
Title: Elementary Italian: Building Your Language Skills
Dates: Tuesday, September 17 - Tuesday, November 12 (no class on Tuesday, October 8)
Time: 7:15pm - 8:15pm
In this course, you’ll build on the basics and expand your understanding of Italian grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. You’ll learn to talk about your daily routine, describe people and places, and express likes and dislikes. The course will also introduce you to more complex sentence structures, including the use of past tenses. You’ll engage in more interactive activities to improve your speaking and listening abilities.
CLASS 3 - Intermediate Italian (B1) IN PERSON
Title: Intermediate Italian: Expanding Your Communication
Dates: Wednesday, September 18 - Wednesday, November 13 (no class on Wednesday, October 9)
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
This course will take your Italian to the next level, focusing on more nuanced grammar and a broader vocabulary. You’ll learn to express opinions, discuss past experiences, and talk about future plans. The curriculum includes reading and writing exercises, along with discussions on Italian culture, to enhance your understanding of the language in context. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to hold more complex conversations and understand the gist of everyday Italian.
CLASS 4 - Upper Intermediate Italian (B2) IN PERSON
Title: Upper Intermediate Italian: Mastering Conversations
Dates: Wednesday, September 18 - Wednesday, November 13 (no class on Wednesday, October 9)
Time: 7:15pm - 8:15pm
This course is designed for students who already have a solid understanding of Italian. You’ll dive into advanced grammar, including the subjunctive mood, and refine your conversational skills. Topics covered will include discussing current events, expressing complex ideas, and understanding idiomatic expressions. The course will also focus on improving your writing skills, with assignments that require more sophisticated language use. By the end of this level, you’ll be able to confidently participate in conversations on a wide range of topics.
CLASS 5 - Beginner Italian (A1) IN-PERSON
Title: Italian for Beginners: Your First Steps into Italian
Dates: Thursday, September 19 - Thursday, November 21 (no class on Thursday October 10 & Thursday, November 14)

Title: Advanced Italian: Achieving Fluency and Precision

Time: 7:15pm - 8:15pm
This course is aimed at students who are ready to perfect their Italian language skills. You’ll explore advanced grammar and syntax, with a focus on achieving precision in both written and spoken Italian. The curriculum includes in-depth discussions on Italian literature, film, and current events, helping you to refine your understanding of cultural nuances. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to communicate fluently and accurately in Italian, with a deep appreciation for the language and its cultural context.
