Tredici Storie:

figlia.”

More about the book in Translation:

This is an anthology of 13 stories, written by Piero Chiara. The first story of this collection presents a man who, thanks to a telescope, recognizes on the terrace of an aging condominium, a woman who many years earlier had been the protagonist in the province of a curious love affair; a tacit transfer of marital rights from her husband to the praetor, in the conviction that the former was destined within a short time to a definitive passing, while her life, as often happens, turns out to be more ingenious and inventive. Well, the themes that form the charm of this tale are the telescope which, bringing things closer to slow motion, becomes a symbol of memory, the intrigues of love and the meaning of existence

Il Ritorno by Giulio Salvatori

Storie Di Uomini, Di Donne e Di Bambini:

Translation:

Stories of Men, Woman and Children

These stories have a common denominator: simplicity. The background atmosphere is a world made up of everyday life, of common notes, of frank and sincere value that give the stories a real and autobiographical character. The charming pen and ink drawings throughout the book add to the atmosphere of the stories.

Translation:

This book “offers the first thoroughly-researched biography of Kim Philby, the Soviet master spy who served as the liaison between what is now MI-6 and the CIA in the early 1950s. Three reporters for the Times worked to track his likely period of initial recruitment, early signs that the intelligence services missed, and especially the odd events surrounding the defections of Guy Burgess and Donald Mclean. It is an absolutely fascinating spy tale, as interesting for its content as for its status as a primary source and window into thoughts and opinions of 1960s Britain.”
By Nathan Willard, Goodreads.

“Insight into Philby’s Community sympathies while at Cambridge as a reaction to the rise of Fascism in England and Europe during the 1930s is offered as a reason for his ideological preferences.”
By Edward, Goodreads
